Meet our Plumbing Service Manager
Matt Carhart
Matt’s career is driven by a passion for helping others realize their full potential, especially within the trades. He believes everyone has deep reservoirs of talent just waiting to be unlocked, and he combines traditional training with personal development to bring out the best in those he mentors. This unique approach, which integrates both the physical and non-physical aspects of growth, sets Matt apart in an industry where such a blend is rare.
With a foundation of integrity and quality, Matt treats everyone—mentees, colleagues, customers, and vendors—like family. By age 32, he had achieved notable milestones, including becoming a UA Certified Instructor, a Master Plumber, and a business owner, all of which have shaped him into a leader. Currently, as UPM’s Plumbing Service Manager, Matt’s vision is to build a division that redefines quality and service, aiming to establish the largest plumbing service department in Local 3.
Matt’s dedication to lifelong learning and growth keeps him at the forefront of the HVAC industry. From Toastmasters to industry cross-training, he dedicates time every day to personal and professional development. His favorite part of the workday is greeting his team and checking in on their well-being, finding fulfillment in seeing people from all backgrounds grow into top-notch professionals.
Challenges like overcoming physical limitations, navigating his business’s closure, and proving himself without a college degree have instilled in Matt a resilience and toughness that continue to drive him. To him, success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal—achieving goals, earning customer satisfaction, and building a legacy of integrity for his family.
Outside of work, Matt’s “home team” includes his incredible wife of almost 20 years, Tamara, and their four children: Lexi, Lucien, Violet, and Kylee. Known as the “flying purple people cheerer,” Matt’s superpower is cheering people up, and his go-to motto is: “Success is 95% mindset, 5% strategy.” One surprising thing? Matt meditates every morning to start his day with clarity and focus.
His advice for newcomers to the industry is simple: focus on doing your best in everything you do. As Matt would say, “You don’t get rich by doing certain things; you get rich by doing things a certain way,” a philosophy that extends far beyond financial success.
